County warns of high risk of fires Friday, reminds residents of burn restriction

Amid high winds and low relative humidity Friday, the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder to county residents that the burn restriction is still in place.

Amid high winds and low relative humidity Friday, the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder to county residents that the burn restriction is still in place.

The Fire Danger Index was in the Very High category, the release said. Outdoor burning is not allowed in the county whenever the Fire Danger Index is in the Very High and Extreme categories. The fine for burning during the burn restriction is up to $1000.
