FARGO — A 25-year-old still on probation for previous violent felonies was charged Friday with attempted murder after police say he kicked another man in the head until he was bleeding and unconscious.
Bail was set at $500,000 cash only in Cass County District Court on Friday for Sha Raymond Littlewind, of New Rockford, N.D.
Littlewind is charged with attempted murder and one count of simple assault, according to court documents. He is being held in Cass County Jail.
According to a police affidavit, after he was arrested Littlewind told police he got into an argument with the alleged victim and started kicking and stomping his face. He also told police he “wanted to kill” the victim, court documents state.
Assistant State’s Attorney Renata Selzer told the court Friday that Littlewind presents a danger to the community and the victim is in “very serious” condition.
A Sanford official said Friday that family has requested the victim’s condition remain confidential.
Officers were called to a Fargo home at the 1200 block of First Avenue South after 11 p.m. Wednesday and found the victim unconscious on the floor and bleeding from the head.
A witness told police that Littlewind was drinking with them earlier in the night and had consumed a half a gallon of vodka throughout the day, according to court documents.
The witness told police Littlewind “went crazy” and started attacking the victim, and when the witness tried to break it up, Littlewind also attacked him, according to court documents.
Court documents state Littlewind then fled the scene, and an officer found him running southwest bound across University Drive with blood on his hands and face.
According to state court records, Littlewind pleaded guilty to a felony terrorizing charge in 2010 in Ramsey County, N.D., after he threatened to kill his girlfriend and their infant child.
Court records show that Littlewind also pleaded guilty to child abuse in Ramsey County in 2011 after he admitted to holding a knife to the throat of his 1-year-old daughter.
