North Dakota wildlife officials are cautioning motorists to beware of deer, as this is the time of year when young animals are dispersing from their home ranges.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota wildlife officials are cautioning motorists to beware of deer, as this is the time of year when young animals are dispersing from their home ranges.

The state Game and Fish Department said October through early December is the peak period for deer-vehicle accidents. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution after dark.

Officials said most deer-vehicle crashes happen around dawn and dusk, when deer are most often moving around.
