Class B roundup: Loboes advance to playoffs with victory

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion sewed up a playoff spot out of Region 1 with a 46-14 win over Richland in 9-man football action in LaMoure on Friday night.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion sewed up a playoff spot out of Region 1 with a 46-14 win over Richland in 9-man football action in LaMoure on Friday night.

The Loboes rolled up 30 first-half points in a 46-14 win over Richland. L-L-M, a No. 4 seed, goes to New Rockford-Sheyenne.

Jared Meiklejohn had two long touchdown passes Anthony Olson and ran one in as well for the Loboes. Brady Thielges added three TD runs and also carried in four 2-point conversions.

Beulah 22, Carrington 19

Beulah’s offense made the difference in the fourth quarter, as the Miners scored 16 points to edge Carrington in Class AA action in Carrington.

The game was between two teams fighting for playoff spots. Now, Carrington is in a must-win situation at Rugby next week, while Beulah can lock up the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game in the West Region with a win at Dickinson Trinity.

Karson Hintz did all the damage for the Miners, scoring on touchdown runs of 7, 1 and 11 yards.

Carrington was led by all-state tailback Casey Murphy, who had a pair of 1-yard scores. Cole Hendrickson also scored from a yard out.

MV-E held off a fierce battle from Oakes to take Class A’s Region 1 title.

The Falcons will host Park River-Fordville-Lankin in the first round a week from today. Oakes is eliminated from playoff contention.

Linton-HMB hosts Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn in the first round, while Milnor-North Sargent will travel to Larimore.

Northern Cass 20, Kidder County 12

Despite a tough effort from a one-win Kidder County team, Northern Cass secured the No. 3 seed in Class A’s Region 1 with a win in Steele.

Casey Springer had all three touchdowns for Northern Cass, punching in on runs of 11, 11 and 9 yards.

Kidder County kept pace, only trailing by a touchdown at halftime. Ben Stroh had a 16-yard TD run in the first quarter. Jordan Leier’s 11-yard touchdown catch from Ryan Sand brought Kidder County to within a score in the fourth quarter.

Northern Cass will go to Langdon in the first round a week from today.

Wyndmere-Lidgerwood showed total dominance with a convincing victory over Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter that clinched the Region 1 9-man title for the Warbirds.

Luis Vasquez had TD runs of 5 and 1 yards in the first half, and fellow all-stater Jeff Illies added 34- and 58-yard touchdown runs in the second half, as W-L opened up a 30-0 lead.

Napoleon avoided the shutout with a 15-yard score from Ryan Baumgartner to Trent Fettig.

W-L will host Hillsboro-Central Valley in the opening round, while N-G-S plays host to Lakota-Adams-Edmore. The playoffs start a week from today.

South Border 34, Hankinson 22

South Border senior running back Blake Bosch had a career day, as the Mustangs wrapped up the regular season with a win over Hankinson in Wishek and earned the Region 1 No. 3 seed for next weekend’s playoffs.

The Mustangs travel to Cavalier.

Bosch carried the ball 41 times for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Bosch scored on runs of 12 and 3 yards in the first half, helped the Mustangs stake out a 14-6 lead at the half.

Tucker Meidinger and Adam Jacobson added TD runs of 11 and 56 yards in the second half, helping South Border close it out. Jacobson had 9 carries for 100 yards.

Hankinson was led by quarterback Carter Mauch, who passed for 173 yards and a score on 11 of 17 attempts. Hankinson’s Chris Gulan hauled in three pass from 101 yards and a TD. Gulan also scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground.

NR-Sheyenne 62, Thompson 22

The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets finished the 9-man regular season on Friday much like the way they started it: with another win.

The No. 2-ranked Rockets breezed through the regular season, finishing overall with a perfect record of 8-0 with a 40-point victory over Thompson in New Rockford.

New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Ethan Haley got the ball rolling with a 75-yard kick-off return for a touchdown, and 54 unanswered first-half points by the Rockets sealed up a season to remember for those north of Jamestown.

The Rockets will be hosting LaMoure-Litchville-Marion in the first round of the state 9-man football playoffs in New Rockford on Saturday.

Volleyball Maple Valley 3, Richland 0

The Maple Valley Raiders defeated the Richland Colts in straight sets 25-14, 28-26, 25-19 in Class B volleyball action in Richland on Thursday night.

Rylee Nudell notched a team-high 11 kills and 3.5 blocks for the Raiders. Teammate Abbie Tinjum contributed a team-high 11 assists and 12 digs.
