MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The city of Minot is trying to raise money for a model of the B-52 airplane.
The model is meant as a gift to the Minot Air Force Base, which is home to the 5th Bomb Wing. Cost of the project is $75,000.
A spokesman in charge of the fund-raising group says about $11,000 has been donated so far.
The Minot Daily News reports that the B-52 model would be built at a one-eighth scale model, with 32- to 36-foot wingspans.
The last B-52 Bomber to come off the assembly 50 years ago is assigned to the Minot Air Force Base.
