United Way of Stutsman County is part of United Way Worldwide. This organization has nearly 1,800 community-based United Ways around the globe. The Stutsman County chapter provides financial support to 22 agencies in the area.
The goal this year is $200,000. This is a challenging goal and well above the $192,000 raised last year. The money raised supports a variety of local organizations including groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Safe Shelter and the Buffalo Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
When financial times are difficult these organizations face the two-horned dilemma of more demand for services and lower donations and grants.
The residents of Jamestown and the surrounding area rely on these groups in times of need. It is now the community’s responsibility to provide the support they need to operate. It really is easy to do.
Attend a United Way event. The organization plans monthly events through the end of the year with proceeds going toward the goal.
And contribute to the United Way. An estimated 99 percent of the money it collects here is used within the community, making Jamestown and Stutsman County a better place to live.
