To heighten awareness about infection prevention and the role consumers can play to stay safe when they visit a health care facility, Jamestown Regional Medical Center is supporting International Infection Prevention Week, which occurs globally Oct. 14-20.
“International Infection Prevention Week is a good time to celebrate the work that is being done to reduce health care-associated infections in our community and to engage consumers in their own care,” said Jenna Bredahl, JRMC quality and infection control manager.
JRMC is taking this week to remind every health care professional to perform appropriate hand hygiene before and after touching a patient. It is also educating everyone to use proper respiratory etiquette by coughing and sneezing into their elbows during cold season.
