Ave Maria donates to Community Action

Tom Geffre, Ave Maria Village chaplain, recently presented $500 to Kathy Williams, executive director of Community Action Region VI.

“Community Action is very appreciative of this donation from AMV,” Williams said. “We work hand in hand to meet the needs of the community.”

Ave Maria Village has held a food drive for the emergency food pantry in September for the past several years.

“The drive fits well with our mission statement of helping people in need,” Geffre said. “We are pleased and proud to provide this support.”

The food pantry has seen an increase in need as well as donations over the past few years. In 2011, the pantry served more than 1,190 individuals of all ages. Williams said 2012 will surpass that number.
