14-year-old ND boy crashes into Bismarck house

A 14-year-old Bismarck boy has been cited for speeding and reckless driving after crashing into a home in North Dakota's capital city.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A 14-year-old Bismarck boy has been cited for speeding and reckless driving after crashing into a home in North Dakota's capital city.

Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena tells the Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/R4WZL7 ) the boy lost control on a corner, and the Jeep he was driving crashed into a house and became wedged into the home's unoccupied basement.

Buschena says the boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. He says the house sustained $10,000 in damage, while the Jeep had $5,000 in damage.

A state law passed in 2011 requires those younger than 16 to have a driver's permit for one year before getting a restricted driver's license. Those who turned 14 before Jan. 1 were required to have permits for only six months before getting licenses.
