Gideon posts top time in homecoming race

Caitlin Arnold (women’s student division), Drew Jones (men’s student division), Andrew Gideon (staculty men’s division) and Bethany Mello (staculty women’s division) were the champions of the 2012 Intramural Cross Country Meet.

The 5,000-meter Jimmie Homecoming Race was held Saturday across the Jamestown College campus.

Gideon, an assistant cross country and track and field coach as well as the school’s sports information director, had the top time in the event. His time of 20 minutes, 20 seconds was three seconds faster than former Jimmie runner Rachel Bickford. Gideon and Bickford were the only two runners with times under 21 minutes.

Arnold won the women’s student division in a time of 23:08, while Jones was the fastest men’s student in 24:18.

Mello led the women’s staculty at 26:10, while Gideon’s blazing 20:20 was well ahead of the field on the men’s side.

The race featured 54 runners. Complete results can be found in the scoreboard on page B3.
