Athletes chosen for weekly award

Katie Zent and Mark Hoge of Jamestown College and Jenna Stilwell of Jamestown High School have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Zent, a senior from Lefor, N.D., on the JC women’s volleyball team, surpassed 1,000 kills in her career after having 25 kills, 21 digs, two blocks and an ace last week in wins over Dickinson State and Dakota State. Zent currently has 1,014 kills, 532 digs, 377 blocks and 22 aces in her career for the Jimmies.

Hoge, a junior on the Jimmie men’s basketball team, averaged 18.5 points and six rebounds per game as Jamestown College opened the season with a sweep over Brandon University.

Stilwell, a sophomore on the JHS volleyball team, had 13 kills and two blocks in the Blue Jays’ win over Bismarck St. Mary’s. Stilwell hit .591 and did not have an error in 19 attempts.
