MOTT, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man accused of having sex with a minor entered a plea during the third day of his trial.
Russell Pearson, of New England, entered the plea Friday. His trial started Wednesday.
Pearson is charged with three counts of engaging in sexual acts with a child younger than age 15.
The Dickinson Press reported that Pearson’s plea does not admit guilt, but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a jury or judge to reach a guilty verdict.
James Gion, Hettinger County state’s attorney, recommended a sentence of seven years in prison.
A sentencing date has not been set.
