Law officer housing in ND oil patch gets boost

The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency has doled out another $1.1 million to support new housing for law officers in the western oil patch.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency has doled out another $1.1 million to support new housing for law officers in the western oil patch.

The money is what remained of $3 million that earlier was earmarked for the Law Enforcement Pilot Program. The money comes from North Dakota's share of a multistate lawsuit settlement with U.S. mortgage lenders.

Housing is in short supply as the booming oil patch draws people from around the country. The Law Enforcement Pilot Program helped housing projects in Belfield, Crosby, Dickinson, Killdeer, Minot, Ray, Stanley, Watford City and Williston.
