Alex Lind’s performance on senior night will likely be one she remembers for a long time.
Jamestown High School’s standout diver broke her previous school and pool record with a score of 269.45 in a dual with Williston on Friday night at the JHS pool.
“That was really good to see,” JHS coach Ben Smith said. “It was senior night and the girls were really excited. It was a special night for all of us.”
Though the Blue Jays again cleaned house in the diving competition, they dropped the dual to Williston 119-67. Lind’s previous record was 267.60.
Finishing second was Abbie Conlon, who edged Abby Wanzek. Conlon posted a 172.15, while Wanzek was on her heels with a 169.95.
Also winning events was Annie Hart, who swam a 26.37 in the 50-yard freestyle to claim top honors. She also won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.76.
Jamestown’s Kamie Wagar had four runner-up finishes. She helped Hart, Paige Peterson and Camille Kawasaki take second in the 200 medley relay with a 2:01.08. She finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.92) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.66). Additionally, she joined Hart, Peterson and Madison Mandan in the runner-up 200 freestyle relay (1:48.37).
A few Blue Jays passed high-water marks.
Brianna Johnson qualified for state in the 100 backstroke, as did Camille Kawasaki, who hadn’t previously qualified in an event yet.
“We’re exactly where we need to be,” Smith said. “The last two weeks were the toughest, training-wise. We’ll start resting them for a few days and a week before state.”
The Blue Jays host the Marney Shirley Invitational in their final home action of the season. The meet is slated for 10:30 a.m.
