ND Army National Guard soldiers heading for Cuba
About 30 North Dakota Army National Guard military police officers are bound for a year of duty in Cuba.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — About 30 North Dakota Army National Guard military police officers are bound for a year of duty in Cuba.
The soldiers with the 191st Military Police Company are joining about 120 U.S. Army reservists as part of a much larger force at the U.S. Navy base in Guantanamo Bay. Their mission at the high-security prison will begin after they finish final training at Fort Bliss, Texas.
A send-off ceremony was scheduled Saturday morning at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Fargo.
The 191st is based in Fargo with detachments in Bismarck and Mayville. Members of the 191st also have served in Iraq.
