Rockets advance to 9-man semifinals

New Rockford-Sheyenne is one win from the Dakota Bowl.

The Rockets built a 14-0 lead over Lakota-Adams-Edmore and held on for a 22-13 win Saturday in 9-man playoff action in New Rockford.

Ethan Haley threw two touchdown passes and ran in another for the Rockets. Haley ran for 128 yards on 14 carries. He also completed seven balls for 100 yards.

Two of his completions went for scores to Chris Perleberg, the first from 45-yards out in the third quarter and then the clincher in the fourth on a 19-yard connection. Haley accounted for the game’s first points with a 56-yard touchdown run.

The Rockets (10-0) outgained the Bobcats 345 to 202.

New Rockford-Sheyenne hosts Cavalier in an all-Region 2 semifinal game Saturday at 2 p.m. The two teams met Sept. 14 in New Rockford with the Rockets winning 48-42. This time the winner advances to the Dakota Bowl Nov. 9 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks against either Divide County or Towner-Granville-Upham.
