JC men top Great Falls

The Jimmie men’s soccer team avenged one of their losses, but came up just short of making it a sweep.

Jamestown College got its 14th win of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 triumph over Great Falls. They took a tough loss Sunday when Rocky Mountain College scored in the 106th minute and won 2-1 in double overtime.

All three teams have already sewn up spots in postseason play. In the latest Modified RPI rankings, Great Falls was No. 36, Rocky Mountain No. 26 and the Jimmies 38th.

The Jimmie women, also locked into postseason play, went 0-2 on the trip.

JC 2, UGF 1

Great Falls got the first goal of the game, but the last two went to the Jimmies.

Michael Whyte tied it at 1-all in the 29th minute.

It stayed 1-1 until 66:11 when George Gauld got the go-ahead goal.

Thomas Cooke stopped five of the six shots he faced. The Jimmies lost to the Argos 2-1 in Jamestown Sept. 29.

RMC 2, JC, 2 OT

Mikey Wall scored 35 seconds into the second overtime and it stood up as the Battlin’ Bears nipped the Jimmies 2-1.

It was the second win for Rocky Mountain over the Jimmies. They won here 3-1 Oct. 7.

Jack Humphries drew Jamestown College even late in the match, beating Joachim Soderstrom to level it at 1-1.

Both teams put eight shots on frame. Cooke had six saves for the 14-4 Jimmies.

Great Falls 3, JC 2

Great Falls got the go-ahead goal with 20 minutes to play to nip the Jimmies on Saturday.

The Jimmies scored first when Lexie Starceski scored less than four minutes into the match.

The next two goals went to Great Falls, but former Blue Jay Kara Wahl equalized at the 51:52 mark to make it 2-all.

The Jimmies scored on half of their shots on frame.

Great Falls put eight shots on JC keeper Kayla Byle.

Katelyn Swart put the Argos in front 3-2 in the 69th minute.

The Jimmies swept Great Falls when the two teams played in Jamestown in late September 2-1 and 3-1.

RMC 3, JC 0

The Jimmies dropped their third straight match and fell to 8-8-2 overall.

The Bears outshot the Jimmies 15-3 in the game as Mandi Achten had two goals and an assist for Rocky Mountain.

Byle had 12 saves. Wahl and Kirsten Adamson had the lone shots on goal for the Jimmies.

The A.I.I. tournaments will be played Nov. 9-10 in San Marcos, Calif.
