ABERCROMBIE, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said work will begin to stabilize stream banks at the Ft. Abercrombie State Historic Site in southeast North Dakota.

The corps said the $757,000 project is slated to be completed next year at the site listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places.

The project will protect the existing cultural resources at the site by stabilizing the eroding stream banks.

Officials said erosion is threatening several historic building foundations at Ft. Abercrombie. One foundation has been destroyed.
