All-Region 1 9-man team named

The 2012 All-Region 1 9-man team, as selected by the coaches, has been announced this week.

The South Border Mustangs and the LaMoure-Litchville-Marion Loboes are well represented on this year’s all-region team, as six players from each program were named all-region and three players from each tabbed as honorable mention selections.

Seniors Blake Bosch (RB/DB), Michael Jacobson (QB/DB), Tanner Meidinger (RB/LB), and juniors Adam Jacobson (RB/LB), Tucker Meidinger (RB/DB) and James Thielges (OL/DL), were all-region selections for the Mustangs, while senior linemen James Horner, Cameron Schulz and Chozey Schumacher were all named honorable mention.

For the Loboes, seniors Jared Meiklejohn (QB), Nolan Alber (C), Dalton Hamlin (LB), Logan Shockman (OL/DL), junior Brady Thielges (RB/LB) and sophomore Anthony Olson were all-region picks, while seniors Riley Jordahl and Kenny Hodem, along with freshman Quinn Alo, were named honorable mention.

Luis Vasquez, of Wyndmere-Lidgerwood, was selected as the Region 1 senior athlete of the year, while Wyndmere-Lidgerwood’s Scott Strenge was named coach of the year.
