Valley City officials announce new industrial park, plant expansions

Valley City officials announced today plans to purchase and develop a 77-acre parcel north of Interstate 94 for an industrial park. The plans also include street and utility infrastructure, bringing the total estimated cost of the project to about $9 million.
The park will be known as the I-94 Regional Development Corridor.
Also announcing plans were the North Dakota National Guard and the John Deere Seeding Group.
The North Dakota National Guard said it will utilize 20 acres of the park for a field maintenance shop and readiness depot. The Guard project will be built in two phases with a total price of about $30 million. The maintenance shop is planned for a 2015 construction while the readiness depot will be built between 2020 and 2022.
John Deere Seeding Group announced a 100,000-square-foot expansion to its existing facility. Construction estimates for the expansion were placed at about $20 million. John Deere Seeding Group employs about 330 people at Valley City. The expansion may accommodate as many as 100 new workers when completed in 2013.
