Three Jimmies up for academic award
Jamestown College soccer players Thomas Cooke, Jack Keeling and Jonathan Jacobs have been nominated for All-District Co-SIDA Academic All-American awards.
Jamestown College soccer players Thomas Cooke, Jack Keeling and Jonathan Jacobs have been nominated for All-District Co-SIDA Academic All-American awards.
All three are key players for the Jimmies, who have set a team record for wins in a season with 14.
Cooke has started all 18 games in goal for the Jimmies (14-4) and with a goals-against average of 1.030. He is a junior from Northampton, England and carries a 3.44 grade point average in exercise science.
Keeling, a sophomore from Leamington Spa, England, is the team’s top midfielder. He has six goals and five assists, although he’s missed the last four games because of an ankle injury. Keeling sports a 3.79 GPA in physical education.
Jacobs, a junior from Keerbergen, Belgium, has started 15 of the Jimmies 18 games in the back row. He has a pair of goals and assists. He has a GPA of 3.54 in history-political science and business administration.
The Jimmies are the No. 2 seed for the Association of Independent Institution Tournament Nov. 9-10 in San Marcos, Calif. They play third-seeded Houston-Victoria on Friday. The winner advances to the championship game Saturday with the tournament champion advancing to nationals.
