Kifer places fourth for Jimmies

Jamestown College wrestler Dillon Kifer was the lone Jimmie who placed during the Daktronics Open at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. on Sunday.

Jamestown College wrestler Dillon Kifer was the lone Jimmie who placed during the Daktronics Open at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. on Sunday.

The freshman from Little Falls, Minn., placed fourth at 141 pounds, after going a respectable 5-2 on the mat during the day. Kifer narrowly fell in the third-place match to Augustana’s Brandon Charbonneau by a 4-3 decision.

Others wrestling for the Jimmies at the Daktronics Open included Sean Blumhardt, Tyler Schnaubert, Jaykob Miller, Zach Pickering, Johnathon Gonzalez, Marlon Branson and Brian Kaehler.

Pickering and Gonzalez squared off against each other during the wrestlebacks at 165, with Pickering walking away with a 7-0 decision over his teammate. Pickering, wrestling unattached, saw his day come to an end in the next match.

Pickering went 2-2 on the day, while Gonzalez went 1-2.

Blumhardt finished 2-2 at 125, Schnaubert went 0-2 at 149, Miller ended the day 1-2 at 157, Branson went 1-2 at 174, while Kaehler went 0-2 at 184.

The Jimmies dual the University of Regina at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Hansen Center, before traveling to the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D. on Saturday.
