The Jamestown College men’s and women’s basketball teams had a rough go of it in Orange City, Iowa on Saturday.
The seventh-ranked Northwestern men downed the Jimmies 83-56, while the No. 2-ranked Northwestern women trumped 11th-ranked JC 84-51.
Men
Levi Ettleman scored a game-high 16 points to lead three players in double figures in Northwestern’s first win of the season.
The game was close at halftime, as Northwestern held a slim three-point lead, 36-33. However, Northwestern made the proper adjustments, outscoring the Jimmies 47-23 in the second half.
JC’s Aaron Stemen had a team-high 14 points, aided by four 3-pointers. He also had a team-high seven rebounds. Taylor Newton added 12 points and four assists.
The men (2-2) host Viterbo (Wisc.) at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Women
The Jimmies suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of a powerful offense.
Northwestern (2-0) had a fast start, leading 39-17 at halftime. They even upped their offensive output in the second half, going for 45 points.
Northwestern’s Karen Hutson had a game-high 22 points in the win.
Jessica Buck finished with a team-high 13 points for the Jimmies, while Hannah Steele added 11. Amber Ramlo was held to just four points, but did pull down 10 rebounds in the loss.
The women (3-1) head to Nebraska for the Midland University Classic this weekend. They play Peru State College at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by Tabor College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
