‘America by Food,’ in Medina: Traveling Smithsonian exhibit there until Dec. 2

“Key Ingredients: America by Food,” a traveling Smithsonian Museum exhibit will in in Medina until Dec. 2 at the Medina City Auditorium.

The exhibit is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge.

The exhibit focuses on the evolution of food, from early pioneer days to frozen foods.

Upcoming events at the exhibit include a discussion on Nov. 10 from Annie Carlson, executive director the Foundation for Agriculture and Rural Resources Management, on food from the producers’ point of view and a homemade noodle making demonstration.

Discussions start at 1 p.m. with demonstrations at 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

On Nov. 17 Matt Schanandore will discuss music and interpretation of Native Americans with an ice cream demonstration.

On Dec. 1 Tayo Basquiat, Bismarck State College professor and president of the North Dakota Humanities Council board, will discuss the philosophy of food.
