Lucille Dobrenz

Lucille Marie (Zabel) Dobrenz, 90 of Canoga Park, CA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday, October 26, 2012 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, in Woodland Hills, CA. Lucille was born Thursday, March 23, 1922 in Jamestown, ND, the oldest daughter of Emil and Minnie (Krubeck) Zabel. She grew up and received her education in Jamestown. On September 1, 1945, she married Manuel Dobrenz in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to the Los Angeles, CA area in the early 1950’s. Lucille was a homemaker and had a love for animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed weekly visits and outings, which spanned over 5 decades, with her sisters and their families. She was the family caretaker when any family member needed anything. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend, who focused all her time and energy on helping others.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Manuel F. Dobrenz; her parents, Emil G. and Minnie A. Zabel; and two of her sisters, Loretta M. Hartman and Betty Lou Zabel. She is survived by her son, Gary, Canoga Park, CA; sister, Marion Dobrenz, Torrance, CA; a niece, Cathy (Hartman) Sagebiel, Simi Valley, CA; a nephew, Tom Dobrenz, Torrance, CA; 5 grand nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Nelson) Leaman, Steven Dobrenz, Grant Nelson, Marie Dobrenz, David Dobrenz; a great-grand nephew Jacob Leaman; a great-grand niece Allyson Leaman; and several cousins; all of whom she loved dearly and remembered fondly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 11 am, at Green Hills Memorial Park, in Rancho Palos Verdes, California; where she will be laid to rest beside her departed husband, Manuel. They will be near Manuel’s departed brother Mayo and their niece Sharon Dobrenz.
