Fargo man hurt after hit by train
A 30-year-old man was seriously injured here Thursday morning when he was struck by a train. Police identified the man as Robert Lamar Brown and said Brown has no permanent address.
FARGO — A 30-year-old man was seriously injured here Thursday morning when he was struck by a train.
Police identified the man as Robert Lamar Brown and said Brown has no permanent address.
According to police:
About 6:50 a.m., workers on a BNSF train noticed a man on the tracks in the 4200 block of Main Avenue and sounded the train’s whistle in warning as they tried to stop.
The man did not leave the tracks and was hit by the train.
Brown was lying perpendicular across the tracks when he was struck, Police Lt. Joel Vettel said.
The train was moving at an estimated 22 to 25 mph, Vettel said.
Brown was taken to a local hospital with injuries to his head and torso.
His condition was unknown as of late Thursday.
Vettel said it was likely Brown would be transported to a Twin Cities hospital if his condition stabilizes.
