No travel is advised in parts of northern and western North Dakota with travel alerts issued for the central part of the state including the Jamestown area, according to a press release from the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
The advisories come as a storm system brings rain and freezing rain across the state from west to east.
Multiple injury accidents along Interstate 94 west of Jamestown were reported by the dispatch center at the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center. Road conditions in those areas were described as extremely treacherous.
The weather system is expected to intensify through Saturday with road and travel conditions expected to become more difficult as the storm progresses.
