Two fire departments fight two Jamestown fires

Firefighters of the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Rural Fire Department dealt with two fires Friday.

Firefighters of the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Rural Fire Department dealt with two fires Friday.

A house fire at 616 Second Ave. NW, caused extensive damage to the unoccupied home. Firefighters were on the scene for about four hours. The JFD was also called back to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. to deal with a flare up.

A kitchen fire at 1108 Sixth Ave. SE, caused extensive damage to the kitchen of the home.

The Jamestown Fire Department was hampered by radio pager problems. Firefighters were called on their telephones to report to the blaze. The Jamestown Rural Fire Department assisted to increase the manpower available to deal with two simultaneous fires.
