Bravo to Stutsman County election workers

The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos and a buffalo chip this week:

*Bravo to the Valley City projects announced Nov. 2. The almost $60 million projects include a new industrial park, maintenance facility and armory for the North Dakota National Guard and an expansion of John Deere Seeding Group facility. The projects are good for Valley City and the Jamestown area as well.

*Bravo to Stutsman County election workers, who helped ensure the voting process was efficient and smooth for residents. And bravo to all candidates who ran for public office.

*Buffalo chip that whooping cough cases are on the rise in North Dakota. State health officials said last week that 179 cases had been reported, more than double from the year before. They are urging parents to vaccinate for the illness.

*Bravo that Great River Energy plans to start up its Spiritwood Station in 2015. The 99-megawatt coal-fired electric generating plant was placed on standby after it was completed in August 2011 because of a lack of demand for electricity in Minnesota. Plans to start it up in 2015 are due to the need for steam energy for plants at the Spiritwood Energy Park.

*Bravo to Ron Morlock, who received the Men’s Bowler of the Year Award for North Dakota. The award is given to the player with the highest aggregate average at the five major tournaments in the state. Morlock’s average over 62 games was 230.65.
