JHS football trio named all-West Region

Three Jamestown High School football players were honored as all-West Region selections and two more were named as honorable mentions, announced Monday.

Senior Matt Grounds was honored as defensive back, senior Cullen Goter was picked on the offensive line, while senior linebacker Ryan Hillerud also made it.

Honorable mentions were junior Rob Bollinger and senior Jordan Weil, though no positions were designated. Bollinger started on both the offensive and defensive lines, while Weil was a starting outside linebacker.

Bismarck High standout tailback Layne Johs was named senior athlete of the year. Minot’s Barry Holmen earned coach of the year honors, as voted on by his peers.
