The Jim River Drift Skippers met for their November meeting on the Nov. 1. The club was updated on the ongoing preparations for the trail system. The grubber was not available to clean up around the warming house, but the club hopesto get it done before the snow falls. Some new trail markers did show up with the signs that were ordered, so signs won’t be short this year. The Valley City club had already started signing trails. Glenn Christianson and his family were planning to begin signing the south trail starting at Jamestown in the coming weekend.

Copies of the convention schedule and registration were handed out to those who were interested in attending. Members were reminded that they have to register before Nov. 16 to get the discount.

There was more discussion on the possibility of moving the warming house. Dennis Sands brought up the point that the new Adrian bar, The Field, is not open on Sundays, so anyone riding on Sunday would not have a resting area. Also, he said, it is hard to beat the location which is well protected and provides a great area for families with the sledding hill for the kids. Another member mentioned that the structure may not be in good enough condition for moving anyway.

The club will again participate in the Holiday Dazzle parade. Christianson volunteered to head the project and drive the groomer and skid over from Sanborn. Sands volunteered his shop to temporarily store and decorate it. Those who would like to help are to meet there on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.

With approval of the board, Kevin Kubat moved that the current board members be re-elected for another term. The motion was passed unanimously. The board members will again be Gene Leininger as president, Michelle Hermanson as treasurer and Ronda Oslund as secretary.

Some financial issues were discussed and some fundraising ideas given before the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 6 at Tapps.
