Area athletes chosen for awards

Jamestown High School’s McKayla Orr and Katie Blais and Connor Doppler of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Jamestown High School’s McKayla Orr and Katie Blais and Connor Doppler of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Orr, a junior on the JHS volleyball team, had 16 digs and three aces in the Blue Jays’ win over Mandan.

Blais, a freshman from St. Michael, Minn., on the Jimmie women’s cross country team, ran a season-best time of 19;38 to place 25th out of 50 runners at the A.I.I. Meet in California. She was the No. 3 runner for the third-place Jimmies.

Doppler, a freshman from Ramsey, Minn., on the JC men’s cross country team, was the team’s second finisher at the A.I.I. meet in a PR of 28:30. The Jimmies were third as a team.
