Letter to the editor: Effort to lay wreaths on veterans’ graves is worthy

I would like to encourage all readers to consider making a donation to “Wreaths Across America,” which is sponsored by Bismarck’s Civil Air Patrol Squadron.

This effort seeks to place a wreath upon every grave at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery located south of Mandan, N.D. The wreath-placing event this year will be on Dec. 15 and the public is welcome to help. One can make a general donation, or it can be designated for a specific grave. A wreath sponsorship costs only $15. All but 300 of the 4,000 graves received last year.

I understand that, especially at this time of year, there are many good causes asking for your hard-earned dollars. Please consider this cause in remembrance of those who gave their time, and some, their lives. You may mail your check (along with complete name of sponsored veteran) to: Wreaths Across America c/o Bismarck Civil Air Patrol Squadron, PO Box 2104, Bismarck, ND 58502-2104 or donate online using Paypal at www.bismarckcap.com.

You may also call them at 701-390-9593. The deadline for sponsorship is Nov. 23.
