“(Aside from beer) The one thing you always need at your cabin, camp or fishing shanty is good food. This is the first collection I’ve ever seen that addresses that,” said Tim Murphy, author. “You don’t have to be an expert cook or master chef. This is the perfect cookbook for a beginner or novice to pull off great meals.”

The recipes were gathered over the course of several years and from dozens of hunters, anglers, friends and family members.

“Flannel John is equal parts Babe Winkelman, Red Green, Ted Nugent and crusty mountain man,” said Murphy. “He was born in northern Wisconsin and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He has hunted and fished in 40 states plus Canada and Mexico. We’ve been friends for a long time”

Murphy is a graduate of Western Michigan University. He had a 17-year career in morning radio for several markets. He launched Fargo’s Eagle 106.9 in 2003 and spent 3 1/2 years as the morning announcer and program director from 2003 through 2006. Murphy also spent a few years doing stand-up comedy in the area (Courtney’s Comedy Club) and has had a long history as a freelance writer.

His work has appeared in dozens of publications including Backwoods Home Magazine, The Porcupine Press U.P. Magazine and National Lampoon. He is the creative services director/commercial producer for five radio stations in Medford, Ore.
