Pickering paces Jimmies at Concordia meet

Zack Pickering recorded four victories in six matches to place sixth at 165 pounds to lead the Jimmies at the Finn Grinaker Open at Concordia on Saturday.

Zack Pickering recorded four victories in six matches to place sixth at 165 pounds to lead the Jimmies at the Finn Grinaker Open at Concordia on Saturday.

Pickering, a junior from Pinehurst, Idaho, won four of his first five matches before losing to St. Cloud State’s Gabe Fogarty in the consolation championship by technical fall. One of Pickering’s wins was over teammate Johnny Gonzalez (5-3).

Ten Jimmies competed in the meet, but only Pickering and Dillon Kifer had multiple wins on the day.

Kifer, a freshman from Little Falls, Minn., went 2-2 at 141, including a pin in his third match.

Jevon Schnaubert (149), Joey Murillo (125), Coby Horner (133) and Gonzalez (165) each had one victory.

Sam Brown (149), Jaykob Miller (157), Antonio Lopez (285), and Brain Kaehler (197) also competed in the meet for the Jimmies in the 15-team meet.

Jamestown College is off until after Thanksgiving. They return to action with a road dual Nov. 28 at Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
