Jimmies win Viterbo Classic

The Jimmies capped a successful weekend in Wisconsin with a 54-47 win over Viterbo for back-to-back victories in LaCrosse.
Saturday’s 54-47 over the V-Hawks was in the championship game of the Viterbo Classic, pushing the Jimmies over .500 at 4-3.
Tournament MVP Davon Thomas had 17 points and the Jimmies dominated the second half.
After scoring only 16 first-half points, the Jimmies outscored the V-Hawks 32-6 over a 15-minute stretch in the second half to build a commanding 48-31 lead with less than five minutes to go.
Thomas also had four steals and blocked a pair of shots.
Breshion Tucker contributed 12 points and had a team-high seven rebounds. Jared Sutherland added 10 points off the bench for the Jimmies, who play at home Tuesday night when Minnesota-Morris comes to town. The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow.
SCSU 69, JC 55
St. Cloud State scored 17 of the final 20 points of the game to pull away from the Jimmie women Saturday.
The game was an exhibition for 11th-ranked Jamestown College (5-1) and did not count in their win-loss record.
The final score was deceiving. The Jimmies led 34-30 at halftime and they trailed just 52-50 with six minutes left.
Bridget Schuneman, returning from an ankle injury, and Kayla Roemmich each had 10 points for the Jimmies. Carly Jensen added eight points. Amber Ramlo had eight rebounds and Hannah Steele passed out five assists.
