Woman, 3 grandchildren shot, killed in New Town

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — An FBI spokesman says authorities do not believe there is any threat to the public in the wake of the shooting deaths of a woman and her three grandchildren in the Fort Berthold Reservation community of New Town on Sunday.
Kyle Loven (LOH-vuhn) won't say whether a suspect might be in custody or might be dead, citing the ongoing investigation. Mountrail County Sheriff Ken Halvorson told the Minot Daily News that authorities are investigating whether a New Town man's death in Parshall is connected to the New Town killings but he didn't elaborate.
The five bodies are being brought to Bismarck for autopsies.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that New Town School Superintendent Marc Bluestone called off classes Monday because of what he called “the tragedy in our community.”
