Dickens Village Festival set to begin in Garrison

GARRISON, N.D. (AP) — Garrison is gearing up for its annual holiday Dickens Village Festival.
The event is inspired by Charles Dickens’ story “A Christmas Carol.” It started with a plan to stage a play in 1994 and evolved into the festival that turns the town of about 1,300 people into a Victorian community from Dickens’ era.
The festival runs three consecutive weekends, starting the day after Thanksgiving. The town calls itself the “official Christmas capital of North Dakota.”
