Sanford Health upgrading hospital in Canton

Sanford Health is investing about $5 million in upgrades at its hospital in Canton that serves southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa.

CANTON, S.D. (AP) — Sanford Health is investing about $5 million in upgrades at its hospital in Canton that serves southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa.

The Canton Inwood Area Health Foundation is contributing $1.5 million to the project at Canton-Inwood Memorial Hospital, a 16-bed critical care facility that has 86 workers.

The Argus Leader reports that the project includes everything from improving lab services to doubling the space for physical, occupational and speech therapy. The work is to be done by mid-2014.

Sanford is headquartered in nearby Sioux Falls, and also in Fargo, N.D.
