CANTON, S.D. (AP) — Sanford Health is investing about $5 million in upgrades at its hospital in Canton that serves southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa.

CANTON, S.D. (AP) — Sanford Health is investing about $5 million in upgrades at its hospital in Canton that serves southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa.

The Canton Inwood Area Health Foundation is contributing $1.5 million to the project at Canton-Inwood Memorial Hospital, a 16-bed critical care facility that has 86 workers.

The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/XrbK06 ) that the project includes everything from improving lab services to doubling the space for physical, occupational and speech therapy. The work is to be done by mid-2014.

Sanford is headquartered in nearby Sioux Falls, and also in Fargo, N.D.
