Jimmies’ Cooke earns weekly A.I.I. award
Jamestown College goalie Thomas Cooke has been named the Association of Independent Institution’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Jamestown College goalie Thomas Cooke has been named the Association of Independent Institution’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Cooke, a junior from Northampton, England, came up big for the Jimmies in a 1-0 win over Rocky Mountain College in the NAIA national tournament opening round on Saturday. Cooke faced 16 shots and eight corner kicks and came up with 10 saves in recording his seventh shutout. The win was the first ever for the Jimmies in national tournament play.
The Jimmies (16-4-1) take on second-seeded and host Auburn University-Montgomery, Ala. (17-3-2) on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in second-round play of nationals, which is down to the final 16 teams.
