Barnes speaks to Optmist members

Taylor Barnes, director of the Arts Center, spoke to the Optimist Club at its Nov. 15 meeting.

Taylor Barnes, director of the Arts Center, spoke to the Optimist Club at its Nov. 15 meeting.

She reported that the recent visit by the Moroccan band was very well received and it was an honor for Jamestown to host them. Most people do not realize how famous this group is throughout Europe and other parts of the world, she said. Another Moroccan group, the Orchestra of Fez, will be coming to the Arts Center in April.

The Optimist Club is a major supporter of the Arts After School Program for kids, which continues to be very successful, Barnes said. The kids are now working with artist-in-residence Molly McLain.

The pottery work of Brad Bachmeier is on display in the gallery and there will be a training session with him at the Arts Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

Barnes reminded the Optimists that the Arts Center is always looking for ideas and suggestions from the community.
