Cardinals place three on Class AA all-state team

The Carrington High School football team certainly had its standouts. Seniors Cordell Schroeder, Tysen Rosenau and Casey Murphy made their mark on the Cardinals’ program, helping them to the playoffs the last two years. All three were named to the Class AA all-state team, which was announced Wednesday night and is voted on by coaches.

The Carrington High School football team certainly had its standouts.

Seniors Cordell Schroeder, Tysen Rosenau and Casey Murphy made their mark on the Cardinals’ program, helping them to the playoffs the last two years. All three were named to the Class AA all-state team, which was announced Wednesday night and is voted on by coaches.

Schroeder made it as a defensive lineman on the first team, while Rosenau was also on the first team as a linebacker. Murphy made the second-team offense, though no positions were designated.

All three are repeat selections.

Valley City also had three all-state picks in senior tight end Tayler Lentz and junior defensive lineman Spencer Meyer, both first team. Junior Jesse Hass made the second team defense.

Griggs-Barnes County had two including repeat selection Trevor Anderson, a senior on the first-team defensive line. Senior Pete Fehr was a second-team defensive selection.

Lisbon had two as well, led by first-team junior defensive back Dylan Urbach. Senior Nathan Mangin picked up second-team offensive honors.

Blue Jays shut out of all-state

The Jamestown High School football team didn’t place a player on the Class AAA all-state team.

The Blue Jays joined Grand Forks Central and Williston as the only three teams without an all-state selection.

Bismarck High, Bismarck Century and Fargo South had the most picks with seven apiece. Minot, Dickinson and West Fargo had five each.

Grand Forks Red River had four, while Mandan, Devils Lake and Fargo Davies each had three. Fargo North had two selections.
