Coach Greg Ulland would like to see his team respond better to it, however.

The JC men were also on the road, but came up just short against a ranked NAIA Division I team.

“When you’re a top 10 team, you’re going to get everybody’s ‘A’ game. Our girls need to understand that a little better,” Ulland said.

The Jimmies held DSU to 17 first-half points and 50 total, but still struggled to pull away.

“You have to be able to put teams away. If you let teams hang around and get confidence, you end up in a game like we had tonight,” Ulland said. “It’s all part of the learning process with this crew.”

The Jimmies (7-1) shot just 32 percent. They did get to the stripe 29 times, making 20.

Bridget Schuneman had 15 points and was dominant early. Morgan Mathison added 13 points and three rebounds. Hannah Steele chipped in with 10 and Kayla Roemmich was active off the bench with nine points.

“It was a good overall team win,” Ulland said. “At the end of the day when you only allow 50 points and are able to get a win, you have to be happy.”

Ulland expects another tough game today against Rocky Mountain College at 2 p.m., which hung with 4-1 Valley City State Friday night before losing 79-65.
