Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Morgan Huber and Addie Eamon of Jamestown High School and Aleona Reyes and Tom Cooke of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Morgan Huber and Addie Eamon of Jamestown High School and Aleona Reyes and Tom Cooke of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Huber, a senior figure skater, placed fourth in freeskate, second in short program and jumps and first in artistic at the Granite City Figure Skating Competition in St. Cloud, Minn., Nov. 9-10.

Eamon, a junior volleyball player at JHS, had 27 kills and seven blocks as Jamestown placed sixth at state tournament in Mandan.

Reyes, a junior from Belen, N.M., earned All-American honors for the second straight season by playing 25th out of 320 runners at the NAIA national meet in Vancouver, Wash., in a time of 18:25.

Cooke, a junior from Northampton, England, had 10 saves in earning his seventh shutout of the season as the Jimmies defeated Rocky Mountain College 1-0 in opening round action of the NAIA national soccer tournament.
