BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's deer gun season ends Sunday, but there are still some hunting opportunities in North Dakota.
The state Game and Fish Department says several national wildlife refuges in the state open to late-season upland game bird hunting on Monday.
Arrowwood, Audubon, Des Lacs, J. Clark Salyer, Lake Alice, Lake Zahl, Long Lake, Lostwood, Tewaukon, and Upper Souris refuges all open the day after deer season closes.
Tewaukon is open for pheasant hunting only, and portions of all refuges are closed to hunters. Other restrictions also apply, such as the use of nontoxic shot.
Seasons for pheasant, sharp-tailed grouse, Hungarian partridge and ruffed grouse close statewide on Jan. 6.
