Letter to the editor: Students thrilled to be part of Newman Signs project

For the past 10 Decembers, Newman Signs has provided holiday greetings in the form of a massive canvass billboard to all who travel up and down Mill Hill. Not only has this annual contribution to our community awed Jamestown natives and visitors, it has promoted the greatest asset Jamestown has to offer — its people. This year, Newman Signs decided to feature the future of Jamestown — kindergarten students.

The kindergarten students at Louis L’Amour Elementary were ecstatic to learn that they would be appearing on 2012’s version of this community tradition in super-human size! For two weeks the students practiced making their body-formed letters for the “HAPPY HOLIDAY” message as well as created artwork for other parts of the project. This was a tremendous educational opportunity for these students.

For providing such a fantastic opportunity, we would like to thank Kari Newman-Ness and the staff at Newman Signs. Newman-Ness did a phenomenal job of organizing this project and keeping us informed of what we needed to do to pull off such an amazing feat. Very few people understand what a massive undertaking this is and Newman-Ness was extremely supportive throughout the entire project.

We wish to extend a very special thank you to Newman-Ness and all the staff at Newman Signs for providing us with such an amazing opportunity. We also encourage every resident to take the time to check out this year’s version of this impressive Jamestown tradition.
