Nearly 900 pounds of food and supplies were donated to the Salvation Army this year by the Anne Carlsen Center, as part of the “Big Challenge” initiative spearheaded by ACC Chaplain Lindy Holt.
The contest, which included all Anne Carlsen Center locations throughout the state, was designed to encourage giving to local Salvation Army organizations through friendly competition among ACC employees and clients.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to help others while teaching our students the value of giving back” Holt said. “The holiday season is a natural time to reflect on what we’ve been blessed with — in our families, in our friends, in our work. We wanted to channel that gratitude and incentivize giving with some fun contests and prizes.”
The 10-day drive yielded 37 boxes of various items.
“The Salvation Army prides itself on ‘doing the most good,’ and they live that vocation faithfully, particularly this time of the year,” ACC CEO Eric Monson said. “We feel our missions are closely aligned, and we’re proud to support the Salvation Army as they serve the community that has been so supportive of our own goals — to nurture abilities and change lives.”
“We would like to thank Anne Carlsen Center and everyone involved in this food drive. The impact on the food received will make a difference to those in the community who are in need of food. We could not do what we do without the help from you,” Lt. Mitch Brecto of The Salvation Army said.
