Jamestown College hosts High School Math Competition in October

The Jamestown College Department of Mathematics hosted its fifth High School Math Competition Oct. 22 with 390 students from 20 schools participating.

The Jamestown College Department of Mathematics hosted its fifth High School Math Competition Oct. 22 with 390 students from 20 schools participating.

Students competed in three categories: ninth/10th grade, 11th/12th grade and team (one student from each grade). At the end of the individual and team testing, the top eight schools (Jamestown, Dickinson, Enderlin, Beulah, Bismarck, Hankinson, Sargent Central and Century) competed on stage in the Reiland Fine Arts Center. Dickinson won the team competition.

Awards in the form of Jamestown College scholarships were presented to the top three students from Class A and Class B schools in the ninth/10th and 11th/12th grade categories.

Jamestown College students John Peterson and Tucker Woock, with the assistance of mathematics majors, coordinated the event.
