Jamestown College’s Sarah Becker has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Northwest Region Player of the Year.

Becker, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Rochester, Minn., led the Jimmies in kills (370) and blocks (119) during her junior season. She also hit a team-leading .389. Becker was named the A.I.I. player of the year last season.

Becker and teammate Katie Lee were also named to the all-region team.

Lee, a senior defensive specialist from Fargo, amassed 707 digs for the Jimmies, averaging 5.48 per set. She also served in 48 aces.

By being named to the first team, Becker and Lee are now under consideration to be named to the AVCA’s national team. There are eight regions in the country.

Fourteen players were named to the first team, including Josette Glatt of Mayville State, a sophomore middle hitter. Eight more were named honorable mention.
